NOËLLE KING

Milagro: Care No Matter Where, Noëlle King, Assemblage; glass, metal, pigments, thread, plastic, 5 x 2 x 12 in.
Image Description: A tiny gold box with an open glass door that has a cloud of pearls of various sizes and tints ranging from sea green to gray and gold, spilling and cascading out of the box. The top of the box has gold rays expanding out like an open male peacock’s tail from a central pearl.

There is a property of quantum physics called ‘spooky effects at a distance’ that links particles that have once been together and are now apart. The particles concurrently react to a stimulus although only one of them may have actually experienced it. This quantum entanglement means that they are inexorably connected by a force which transcends time and distance.

My daughter and love is severely ill with Long Covid. I made this for her as a talisman, a charm against any further harm or ill, a wish for healing. She is the frosted glass bird inside the shrine; the door is open, and she cannot physically fly yet. The cascade of pearls is her gift, the beauties of her spirit which tumble out to bring happiness to all who love her. May the magic of this work, care no matter where, protect her and all beings who suffer.
